# Gift codes

> Buy a portable code, share it however you like. The recipient redeems it into any of their apps.

Gift codes are portable credits: `TGFT-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX`.

## Buying a code

Anyone can buy one at [tokengift.ai/gift](https://tokengift.ai/gift) — no account needed.
After checkout you receive **two strings**:

| String      | Looks like    | What it does                                                    |
| ----------- | ------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------- |
| Gift code   | `TGFT-9H2K-…` | Redeems the full amount into a wallet. Keep it secret           |
| Check token | `TGCK-A7RD-…` | Read-only: verifies validity, amount, and expiry. Safe to share |

Both are also emailed to the buyer as a receipt.

  For fraud protection, codes become redeemable a few minutes after purchase.
  Codes expire 150 days after purchase.

## Verifying a code

Before sending a code to someone (or after receiving one), anyone can check it at
[tokengift.ai/check](https://tokengift.ai/check) using either string. The page shows
status (valid / redeemed / expired), face value, and expiry — without redeeming it.

## Redeeming a code

Recipients redeem codes in the [dashboard](https://tokengift.ai/dashboard): paste the code
into any app's **Redeem** box. The full face value lands in that app's wallet instantly,
and the code becomes unusable.
